Epoch time and Epoch time milestone

The Unix epoch (also known as Unix Time Stamp) is the representation of time as the number of non-leap seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on January 1, 1970. It is introduced by Unix operating system, , standardised in POSIX. The clock is used not just by Unix, but also by Linux, Java, JavaScript, Mac OS X, and various other technologies. In the fields of chronology and periodization, an epoch means an instant in time chosen as the origin of a particular era. The "epoch" then serves as a reference point from which time is measured. Time measurement units are counted from the epoch so that the date and time of events can be specified unambiguously.

On Friday, February 13th 2009, 23:31:30 UTC, it will be exactly 1,234,567,890 seconds since the beginning of Epoch Time, which was on midnight of January 1, 1970. So it's the time for Unix nerds to celebrate 1234567890 :-)

Adobe Unveils Creative Suite 4 (CS4)

Yesterday I attended the Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Grand Unveil seminar at Muscot hotel, Trivandrum. The scheduled time was 9.15 and we reached there at correct time. I was already a registered user for this seminar; I got Adobe Hand Voucher from the registration counter. This Registration process went for an hour and the seminar started at 10.15.

The first seminar was about the Adobe Bridge.

2008: I think I had a bad year

December 19th, I was trying to watch a movie. No..no mood for that. Hmm.2008. only few more days for the New Year. So.. This is the time to look back and .. actually this year I don't have any memorable happy moments.. but i have a lot of memorable moments. Some of them was the wonderful moments of my life. But now it is hurting.

January and feb.. a mix of good and bad things. But after that.. many sleep less days...and some days I slept more than 18 hours. Many medical leaves, chickenpox, minor accidents..lost friends.. broken dreams.. Well.. I wish to delete this year from my life. But.. I think all the incidents happend in this year is the result of the things that I have done in my previous years. So deleting this year may not work. Hmm.. anyway my previous years were wonderfull..

All these things happend in this year is may b for my good or may be for my bad. But now itz :-( ; Only time can prove that. Compared to the other incidents I have faced; this year I faced 1st failure in my life. I want it to be the last. Past is past.. Thinking about the future.. Hmm.. I can't predict. I wish for a happy and prosperous year... But still I am scared about some special days of 2009. Red or black days of my 2009.

I wrote this on 19. Then didn't get time to post. Now @ home, on annual leave. Installed Ubuntu in my laptop. Now installiing other applications. Want to download the updates and installation files. Since I am using BSNL Dataone connection, the free net time is 2AM-8AM. So all the big downloadings are done during that time. So have to wait 30 more minutes to start. Now let me select which all applications needs to be downloaded... Mainly codecs, dev applications. Ok.. byee

Chandrayaan 1: Indian probe touches down on Moon

In a historic event, the Indian space programme achieved a unique feat on November 14, 2008 with the placing of Indian tricolour on the Moon’s surface on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday. The Indian flag was painted on the sides of Moon Impact Probe (MIP), one of the 11 payloads of Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft, that successfully hit the lunar surface at 20:31 hrs (8:31 pm) IST. This is the first Indian built object to reach the surface of the moon. The point of MIP’s impact was near the Moon’s South Polar Region.

A Software Engineer's feelings.....

It was raining heavily outside. Dark clouds gathered in the sky and nature was in its ominous best. I took a break from my work and went to the pantry to grab a cup of coffee. I had a sip and went near the window to see the rain pouring down heavily outside the glass structure. I was inside our huge office building, unruffled by even the fierceness of the nature.

Through the heavy transparent glass, I could see a small girl trying to hold on to her umbrella which the wind was snatching away from her. I felt sorry for the girl, and was happy that I was not in a similar pathetic situation. Yes. I take pride for the fact that I am a software engineer.

I have everything which a common man would envy; money, status, respect, you name it I have it. I always wanted to be software professional and here I am, working for one of the best firms in the world. But then, am I really happy? Now, I could see an imprint of my palm on the other glass window, through which I reminisced my past, basked in the warmth of the sun shine.

My childhood was so much of fun. I vividly remember those rainy days, when I hugged my mother tightly during sleeping listening to all the stories told by her. Now, I have a big house here, but then it is just a house, not a home. My parents are pretty far away from me now. I have a cell phone to talk to them everyday, but then I really miss those dinners which I had with my family everyday. I could easily afford to taste all the different cuisines these days, but the best of food there, lack the love and affection which is present in the food prepared by my mother.

I threw a lavish party for my colleagues for my birthday, but then they would never replace the birthdays when my friends secretly brought a cake and at the end, half of the cake would have ended up on my face. The couple of hundred bucks that u save for a long period just to give a treat to your friends in the road side chat shop can never give the pleasure even after spending a few thousand bucks these days.

The scene of me crying and refusing to have lunch on the day when I fought with my best friend in college canteen came to my mind. Today, she has gone far away from me, taking away my love and with it my life, but I am sitting and coding here with a false smile on my face. Everyday I meet new people, but then I long ceased to make a new friend.

It's true that I have a lot of things now. I have a nice bed, but no time to sleep. Lots of money, but no friends to spend it with. The latest designer clothes, but a worn out body . Quite a few to flirt, but no one to love. Awards for technical excellence, but no reward for the crave for peaceful ambience. A confident demeanor, but a reluctant and apathetic mind. Full of rain, but no sunshine even in the farthest distance.

Now, I could see the small girl on the road enjoying in the rain with her umbrella firmly in her grip. She might not have all the comforts which I have, but then she has the innocence and fun which I lost a long time back.
I have decided to come out of this false fantasy, even if it is at the expense of losing the tap of the software engineer. I am going to again enjoy my life. I am going to go out in the rain and play with the small kid now. I removed my tie, and went near my computer to shut it down.

Just then, I saw a new mail alert in my mail box. I slowly opened outlook and I found a message from my manager with an attachment saying that there was a critical defect in the code and I have to fix it soon. I convinced myself that I am not going to get bogged down again by these pressures and stick to my decision. I ignored the mail and went to the rest room. After a couple of minutes, the software engineer in me came out, his shirt tucked in with the perfect tie knot, sat before the computer, and started typing,

Hi XYZ,

I am looking into the defect and will send the patch files before EOD.

I installed FF3 in my Vista machine and itz really cool. I can feel the improved performance, especially the memory taken by firefox process. Some of the addsons are updated automatically, but some of them need manual updation.

Finally the iPhone 3G is officially released.

The main features are 3G, thinner edges, full plastic back, flush headphone jack, and the iPhone 2.0 firmware .They're also making sure it's available all over internationally, works with enterprises, runs 3rd party apps... and does it all for cheaper. Apple claims its 3G speeds trounce the competition, with pageloads 36% faster than the N95 and Treo 750 -- and of course it completely trounces the old EDGE data. Battery life isn't getting put out to pasture though, with 300 hours of standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio. GPS is also a go. Apple is using A-GPS, which supplements regular satellite GPS data with info from cellular towers. WiFi data is also worked into the mix, which should give users a pretty solid lock on where the heck they are on this planet. Apple hopes to launch in 70 countries this year. 8GB is available for $199, 16GB for $299 -- and the 16GB comes in white. Both pricepoints require a contract.

To solve this problem: Create a new file winamp.m3u under your Winamp directory (By default it is C:\Program Files\Winamp\). It worked :-)

Removing Funny ust scandal virus

This virus is affected to your yahoo messenger and it will change your status to something like Funny ust scandal .. It also send the virus file through your yahoo messenger. Try the following steps to remove that virus.

Boot the system in safe mode
Open command promt(Type "cmd" in Start->Run without quotes)
Type the following 3 commands
1. taskkill /f /im smss.exe
2. taskkill /f /im killer.exe
3. taskkill /f /im smss.exe
Now we want to delete the virus files. For that execute the following commands
1. del /a:h /f c:\autorun.inf
2. del /a:h /f c:\smss.exe
3. del /a:h /f c:\funny ust scandal.avi.exe

Repeate the above 3 commands for all the drive('d','e','f') except CD/DVD drive. Do the same by connecting your flash drive. The virus may b there..

Eg:- if u have D drive then replace 'c' of "c:\autorun.inf" as "d:\autorun.inf"

del /a:h /f c:\windows\killer.exe
del /a:h /f c:\windows\autorun.inf
del /a:h /f c:\windows\smss.exe
del /a:h /f c:\windows\funny ust scandal.exe
del /a:h /f "%userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\lsass.exe"

Goto Start -> Run and type "regedit" without quotes then search and delete the registry entries
1. smss.exe
2. lsass.exe
3. killer.exe
4. Scandal.avi.exe
Restart your system in normal mode

The above steps are bit difficult. I will create a tool for removing the virus when i get time. Now bit bussy @ office. Hope this will help you :)

Using Picasa Web Albums you can create a Flash slideshow to embed in your blog or webpage. Each slideshow features built-in playback controls, size options, and the ability to display captions.

To create and embed a slideshow:

Sign in to your Google Account for Picasa Web Albums at http://picasaweb.google.com using your Google Account username and password.
Click the My Photos link and select the album you'd like to make a slideshow.

What is Struts?

Struts is a free open-source framework for creating Java web applications.

Web applications differ from conventional websites in that web applications can create a dynamic response. Many websites deliver only static pages. A web application can interact with databases and business logic engines to customize a response.

Web applications based on JavaServer Pages sometimes commingle database code, page design code, and control flow code. In practice, we find that unless these concerns are separated, larger applications become difficult to maintain.

One way to separate concerns in a software application is to use a Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture. The Model represents the business or database code, the View represents the page design code, and the Controller represents the navigational code. The Struts framework is designed to help developers create web applications that utilize a MVC architecture.

The framework provides three key components:

A "request" handler provided by the application developer that is mapped to a standard URI.
A "response" handler that transfers control to another resource which completes the response.
A tag library that helps developers create interactive form-based applications with server pages.

The framework's architecture and tags are buzzword compliant. Struts works well with conventional REST applications and with nouveau technologies like SOAP and AJAX.

What is Model-View-Controller (MVC) Architecture?

Model-View-Controller architecture is all about dividing application components into three different categories Model, View and the Controller. Components of the MVC architecture has unique responsibility and each component is independent of the other component. Changes in one component will have no or less impact on other component. Responsibilities of the components are:

Model: Model is responsible for providing the data from the database and saving the data into the data store. All the business logic are implemented in the Model. Data entered by the user through View are check in the model before saving into the database. Data access, Data validation and the data saving logic are part of Model.

View: View represents the user view of the application and is responsible for taking the input from the user, dispatching the request to the controller and then receiving response from the controller and displaying the result to the user. HTML, JSPs, Custom Tag Libraries and Resources files are the part of view component.

Controller: Controller is intermediary between Model and View. Controller is responsible for receiving the request from client. Once request is received from client it executes the appropriate business logic from the Model and then produce the output to the user using the View component. ActionServlet, Action, ActionForm and struts-config.xml are the part of Controller.

In the 1980's a group of scientists at CERN (Switzerland) started working on what was to become the media revolution: the World Wide Web(WWW), or simply 'the Web'. Their aim was to create a database infrastructure that offered open access to data in various formats. They started developing their protocol called CERN's internal network.

In an office on the fourth floor (room 404), they placed the World Wide Web's central database.Any request for a file was routed to that office, where two or three people would manually locate the requested files and transfer them, over the network, to the person who made that request.When the database started to grow the number of requests grew and also the number of requests that could not be fulfilled, usually because the person who requested a file typed in the wrong name for that file.Soon these faulty requests were answered with a standard message: 'Room 404: file not found'.

Later, the manual processes were automated and people could directly query the database but the error message remained the same '404: file not found'. The room numbers remained in the error codes in the official release of HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) and are still displayed when a browser makes a faulty request to a Web server.

Onam is the biggest and the most important festival of the state of Kerala. It is a harvest festival and is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm all over the state by people of all communities. According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam.

Onam is celebrated in the beginning of the month of Chingam, the first month of Malayalam Calendar (Kollavarsham). This corresponds with the month of August-September according to Gregorian Calendar.

Carnival of Onam lasts from four to ten days. First day, Atham and tenth day, Thiruonam are most important of all. Popularity and presentation of rich culture of the state during the carnival made Onam the National Festival of Kerala in 1961. Elaborate feasts, folk songs, elegant dances, energetic games, elephants, boats and flowers all are a part of the dynamic festival called Onam.

Government of India has taken due notice of this vibrant and colorful festival. It promotes Onam internationally in a big way and celebrates 'Tourist Week' for Kerala during Onam celebrations. Thousands of domestic and foreign tourists visit Kerala to be a part of Onam.

The Legend
Story goes that during the reign of mighty asura (demon) king, Mahabali, Kerala witnessed its golden era. Every body in the state was happy and prosperous and king was highly regarded by his subjects. Apart from all his virtues, Mahabali had one shortcoming. He was egoistic. This weakness in Mahabali's character was utilized by Gods to bring an end to his reign as they felt challenged by Mahabali's growing popularity. However, for all the good deed done by Mahabali, God granted him a boon that he could annually visit his people with whom he was so attached.
It is this visit of Mahabali that is celebrated as Onam every year. People make all efforts to celebrate the festival in a grand way and impress upon their dear King that they are happy and wish him well.
Onam Celebrations
Rich cultural heritage of Kerala comes out in its best form and spirit during the ten day long festival. It is indeed a treat to be a part of the grand carnival. People of Kerala make elaborate preparations to celebrate it in the best possible manner.
The most impressive part of Onam celebration is the grand feast called Onasadya, prepared on Thiruonam. It is a nine course meal consisting of 11 to 13 essential dishes. Onasadya is served on banana leaves and people sit on a mat laid on the floor to have the meal.
Another enchanting feature of Onam is Vallamkali, the Snake Boat Race, held on the river Pampa. It is a colourful sight to watch the decorated boat oared by hundreds of boatmen amidst chanting of songs and cheering by spectators.

There is also a tradition to play games, collectively called Onakalikal, on Onam. Men go in for rigorous sports like Talappanthukali (played with ball), Ambeyyal (Archery), Kutukutu and combats called Kayyankali and Attakalam. Women indulge in cultural activities. They make intricately designed flower mats called, Pookalam in the front courtyard of house to welcome King Mahabali. Kaikotti kali and Thumbi Thullal are two graceful dances performed by women on Onam. Folk performances like Kummatti kali and Pulikali add to the zest of celebrations.

SpyLocked 4.3 is a fake but dangerous anti-spyware application, that is installed on your computer without your permission using Trojan and other malwares. Automatic installation of Rogue/Fake antispyware applications such as, Malware Wipe, SpyLocked, Pest Wipe, WinAntispyware, BraveSentry SystemDoctor, SpyLockeder, WinAntiSpyware, Adware.W32g.EXPDwnldrl, SpywareStrike, SpyAxe, SpyTrooper, Adware Punisher, Spy iBlock and SpyGuard.

Removel Mothod

You can remove it manually. But it is little bit difficult. You have to do a lot of searching, deleting, registry edits etc etc. So please try automatic removal methods.
The above spyware is affected in my friends system and after scaning with AVG Anti Spyware it detecetd it and removed. But not sure if it is completely removed or not. I will inform you if it is worked. Here is the link to download AVG Anti spyware. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5

Steps for removing Manually removing Heap41a / win32.USBworm Worm

Restart the system in safe mode.
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to the processes tab
Look for svchost.exe . There will be more than one process with that name. End that process but make sure that the username of that process should be your username.
End all svchost.exe process with your username.
Goto your "C:\" drive and delete the folder heap41a. That folder is an hidden folder. So you must enable the option for showing the hidden files( Seletct Tools from the menu bar and select Folder options. Then select view tab. there you can find the option for showing the hidden files).
Search for entries named "heap41a" in the Registery as follows
Go to Start --> Run and type Regedit. Press Enter
Go to the menu Edit --> Find
Type "heap41a" and press enter.
Delete all those entires with the name "heap41a". It will be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run
Restart in normal mode.

Ops what iam writing.. my topic is not this. Ohk I was brushing and my teeth and I heard a Te Te sound from my mobile. It is a message from shameen. He is our mobile man. He always used to forward messages to all his friends. I opened that message.

The geek's are the most pampered during the internal exams.
The lab assistants are the most respected people ( i.e. during the lab exams).
The watchmen are the people most bribed.
The HOD is the person most respected (heights of sycophancy here).
The principal is the person most abused and insulted (i.e. at the back).
Dropping subjects is 'cool' (arre yaar..drop the idea of dropping subjects plzz).
There is always a lecturer in the college who can't speak proper 'english'.
Night-out is the second most important tool to ace the exams.
The most important tool..the bhramastra..is the 'chit' in which the words can be understood only by the person who wrote them.
The freshers are the most sought after..be it in the canteen ,the 'free' periods or for completing the records , assignments.
The second-years are the ones with the 'I am the don-of-the-college' feeling.
The third years are the ones with the 'so-many-backlogs' feeling and the poor souls get down to studying after bossing around in the college for so long. But the fun still continues.
The fourth years have no connection with the college whatsoever...with no interest in ragging, pulling each other's legs, the b'day parties, the b'day bumps et al which they enjoyed so much till now. All they want is a good placement and a '1st-class' tag attached to their memo.
The first three years are spent in cursing the college, the people there, the system et al.
But towards the end of the fourth year, people tend to feel nostalgic abt the pure unadulterated fun they have had for 4 years .Now the very system they disliked, the very canteen they cursed, the time that they spent there, the b'day bumps they suffered. All these seem like heaven to them.

Activating Microsoft Office 2007 Beta

A lot of people have been experiencing problems in activating their Office 2007 Beta 2. We can run office 2007 only 50times without activation. So i tried to activate my beta. But all the time i got an error message that there is some problem in my network connection, check my connection or try after some time. I tried it so many times. But all the time i got the same message. Then i googled for the solution or activation crack. I didn’t get any solution but found that lots of users failed to activate their beta. I didn't get any activation crack. So I thought cracks will be available within 2 or 3 week. Wait for that.

But today i got a solution. There are some product keys that do not need any activation. Install your office with those keys.

One such key is : RQCRJ-FCTYM-V3PDF-GRD46-9YHXQ

If you install your office with this key it will not prompt you for activation.

Don't worry if you are already installed with another key. You can uninstall and then reinstall the beta version by using the new product license key ( RQCRJ-FCTYM-V3PDF-GRD46-9YHXQ ) Or you can use the following method to change your product key by modify the registry without uninstalling the beta version.

1. Close all Microsoft Office applications.

2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

4. If you find additional subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open each subkey, and then identify the product by the ProductName entry. For example: ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007

5. When you find the subkey for the product from which you want to remove the existing product license key, delete the following entries:

· DigitalProductID

· ProductID

6. Exit Registry Editor.

The next time that you try to run an Office application, you will be prompted for a new product license key. Then, you can enter the product license key that is mentioned here. Vala problem solved....heheeeee

My New System

Last week I assembled a new system for me. I was thinkg about upgrading my old system since last year. Last month I decided, upgrade. But my confusion was which system i will take, AMD X2 or Intel Dual Core. Then i thought go for AMD 64 FX2 3800. Again I got confused, which RAM? DDR1 or DDR2. DDR2 is a good option but it's price is much more than DDR.

I searchd the net for reviews about AMD and Intel. But I found that Core 2 Duo is a brand-new state-of-the-art processor, whereas the Athlon 64 X2 has been around for a while. In all benchmark Intel scored more than AMD. Bt the cost of Core2 is more than Dual Core or AMD 3800X2. But finallay I decided that go for Core 2 Duo, a vista ready system.

Then my confusion was about Motherboard. I asked my dealer about which mobo is available now. They said they are giving Gigabyte 945GM. But it's integrated GMA is Intel950. Reviews pointed that Windows Vista Aero style is not available if we are using GMA950. Else we must buy a graphics card. But i cant think about graphics card, because my budget was for a medium PC. If i go for Core 2 Duo, i cant think about a Graphics card. So again i worried...I started thinking about AMD with a good mobo and Graphics card. I searchd for a good configuration..but all good configuration points to core 2duo. Finally i decided to go for that, i will buy a graphics card when i willl get money..now adjust with 950GMA. I called my dealer to order my components. But 945mobo was out of stock. I asked them that is any other mobo is available. They said only Intel 965 is available. But it is very expensive. Again i startd searching for a mobo. Atlast I got it, Intel 946. It is a new mobo with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator(GMA) 3000.

So i am ready to order my pc. I told them that i need DDR2 667 MHz. But they said they are not sure which is available, 533 or 667. So i said if 667 is not available give 533MHz DDR2.

I don't need Monitor, DVD Writter, UPS and Spekers because i can take all those from my old system. All those, except speaker are new. I gve my order. They said i will get all those within 2days.

The next day i got a call from my dealer that my order is ready, come and take. But i was in college. In the evening I called my brohter to come to Thiruvalla with money. So we can assemble our new system today itself. He came to thiruvall at 5.30pm and we went to chaganassery. Bought all items and reached home at 9o clock.

I was very happy and started assembling. My mom called me for dinner but i continued my work.

I connected all the parts and started installing Windows Xp.

Yahoo Messenger Worm

There is a very bad worm attack on Yahoo Messenger where it will take control of your messenger and without your knowledge sends some messages with a website links which contains the worm, to your friends list, without your knowledge.

This is a worm that spreads itself by sending links to your contacts in messengers like Yahoo. It disables Registry Editor and Task Manager. It changes the Internet Explorer (IE) home page and also modifies registry such that you cannot change the homepage address.

If your computer is infected with this virus " It will sends the nsl-school.org url to all of your friend list in yahoo messenger using your ID . So with in few hours many of your friends will get infected with it.

Here are simple steps following which you can get the worm removed from your system:

1) Download this http://arunmvishnu.googlepages.com/RepairRegistry.reg file (or you can do it manually)
2) Double click on that downloaded registry file, you will be asked wheather you're sure to add this to registry, click yes.
3) Restart your system.
4) Delete the file svhost32.exe from your Windows folder( If it is present).
5) Delete the file svhost.exe from your Windows folder( If it is present).
6) Lastly, search for: ENET.EXE and delete it if found.

Editing registry manually
------------------------------

1: Close the browser. Log out messenger.
2: Click Start, Run and type this command exactly as given below: (better - Copy and paste)
REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
3: To enable task manager : (To kill the process we need to enable task manager)
Click Start, Run and type this command exactly as given below: (better - Copy and paste)
REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
4: Now we need to change the default page of IE though regedit.
Start>Run>Regedit
From the below locations in Regedit chage your default home page to http://arunmvishnu.siteburg.com or other.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
HKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Just replace the attacker site with http://arunmvishnu.siteburg.com or set it to blank page.
5: Now we need to kill the process from back end. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
Kill the process svhost32.exe . ( may be more than one process is running.. check properly)
6: Delete svhost32.exe , svhost.exe files from Windows/ & temp/ directories. Or just search for svhost in your comp.. delete those files.
7: Go to regedit search for svhost and delete all the results you get.
Start menu > Run > Regedit >
8: Restart the computer.

Microsoft late Wednesday released the much-anticipated final version of Internet Explorer 7, the first major update to the market-leading Web browser in five years. The company has high hopes for the release, which arrives amid growing competition from Firefox.
IE7 includes a number of new features such as a built-in Phishing Filter and ActiveX controls that require manual activation to keep users protected. Under the hood, Microsoft has rewritten the networking architecture of the browser to stop URL spoofing attacks.
IE7 will also play a key role in bringing Windows into the so-called "Web 2.0" era, in which rich applications can reside on a server but feel as snappy as those on the desktop. The release natively supports asynchronous JavaScript and XML, better known as AJAX, along with including a slew of CSS bug fixes and improvements.
Microsoft has additionally built a new RSS feed platform directly into IE7. Not only will users be able to stay up to date by subscribing to Web sites, but application developers can also hook into the platform and easily make use of RSS APIs.

Microsoft UK apparently commissioned Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant to do a (spoof) training video with Gervais playing David Brent. The first part runs for 20 minutes and the second for 17 minutes. They've been uploaded to Google Video and the good thing about this service is that you can download them. It's like watching the lost episode of The Office. Microsoft said on Tuesday it was investigating how two in-house training videos appeared on two Web sites. The videos, which popped up on YouTube and Google Video this month, were commissioned by Microsoft in 2004 as "a light-hearted way of getting our staff to think about the values they attach to working at Microsoft," a company spokeswoman said. The British series ended in 2003 with Gervais and co-writer Stephen Merchant saying there would be no further series. The Office is a mock documentary set in a company whose politically incorrect manager, David Brent, believes, wrongly, he is amusing and popular. By Tuesday, the videos had been pulled off the online video-sharing site YouTube. They remained on Google Video and Microsoft declined to say if it had try to have them pulled from that site. "These videos were produced for internal use and were never intended to be viewed by the public," said the spokeswoman said. Google plans to announce on Monday a beta version of Google Apps for Your Domain, which includes Gmail with 2 gigabytes of storage, Google Calendar, Google Talk and Page Creator. The new service is an extension of Gmail for Your Domain, a service that Google launched in beta version in February. It allows organizations to use Gmail applications with their own e-mail address, instead of the "@gmail.com" domain. The Gmail for Your Domain test service has tens of thousands of active domains, hundreds of thousands of users and hundreds of universities registered to use it, said Dave Girouard, vice president and general manager of Google's enterprise business. The Google Apps for Your Domain service will allow organizations to outsource their communications applications to Google and to customize the user interface with their own branding and color scheme. Administrators will have access to an English-language Web-based control panel to do things like manage the user account list and set up aliases and distribution lists. A premium edition with support and additional storage will be available by the end of the year for a fee, Girouard said. He declined to provide more details.
